Joy Hawkins is a mother, a 40+ year retired educator, an award-winning writer, and a lover of books. She is the author of Window to My Heart, Tyndale House Publishing, 1991.

Born and raised in the beautiful hills of West Virginia, Ms. Hawkins has spent the majority of her career at schools in sunny Florida. She was the founding principal of Calvary Christian Academy in Ormond Beach, Florida, and then dedicated two years as administrator of the American School of Douala, Cameroon, West Africa.

As a language arts/reading teacher, Ms. Hawkins felt most at home in the classroom. Teaching public middle school students for over 30 years was both a challenge and a joy.
