Ketchup
Spurt on My New York Shirt
Second in the series of ‘The Messy Adventures of Audrey and
Brody,” Ketchup Spurt on My New York Shirt follows Audrey and
her little brother Brody as they eat their way through New York
City. They have pizza in Rockefeller Plaza, falafels on the
ferry to tour the Statue of Liberty, dumplings under the dragon
in China Town, and cupcakes in the horse drawn carriage at
Central Park. Audrey and Brody are in awe of the night lights in
Times Square, an exciting play at a theater on Broadway, and
riding on the subway to the Met Museum to see the dinosaur
exhibit. But it is the professional baseball game at the stadium
that has the siblings jumping with excitement and spilling their
food and soda all over them! Again. Their last morning in the
city takes them to a huge toy store where they dance on a big
keyboard before having a burger and shake at one of NYC’s
favorite restaurants. The entire trip Mama has patiently cleaned
them and lovingly repeated, ‘I can’t take you kids anywhere.”
Like the first book in the series Nacho on My Nose, this
beautifully illustrated book contains educational help for
parents in reading to young children. There are comprehension
questions, facts and history of New York, a beautiful graphic
map, and a recipe to make Taiyaki, fish-shaped cakes. (Audrey
and Brody’s favorite from their NYC visit!!) Meepy, Audrey’s
cat, is along to enjoy every site they visit. Ketchup Spurt on
My New York Shirt, like Nacho on My Nose, rhymes and is written
in a rhythmic sing-song pattern. It is the perfect gift for
children 2-8 years. Little boys will love the story of dinosaurs
and baseball. Gosh, so will little girls! The adorable family
dynamics with their mother creates a sweet tale of fun and an
educational vacation.
The first book Nacho on My Nose has Audrey and Brody eating
their way through an international food fair. The diversity of
food and characters makes this book a culinary delight. Along
with the comprehension questions, literary elements, vocabulary,
and a map, there is a recipe to make with your children. Great
for your grandchildren, a Christmas or birthday present, this
book would also delight a teacher for her classroom of littles.

Watch out in 2025 for the siblings to visit the Sunshine State!
